The 11th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 26th September 1781 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Paragon, a bay colt by Paymaster out of Calash, owned by Lord Archibald Hamilton and trained and ridden by John Mangle at Ashgill, Middleham.
